One day, Percy woke up and looked at his calendar. He saw that it was February 29th, a date that he had never seen before. He wondered what it meant. He decided to ask the wise owl named Otis, who lived in a tree near the town. Otis was known for his knowledge and wisdom. He always had an answer for everything.
Percy put on his fedora and went to see Otis. He found him sleeping in his nest. He gently tapped him on the wing and said hello. Otis opened his eyes and yawned. He saw Percy and smiled.
"Hello, Percy. What brings you here?" Otis asked.
"Hi, Otis. I have a question for you. Do you know what today is?" Percy asked.
"Of course I do. Today is February 29th, a special day called Leap Day, which only happens every four years," Otis said.
"Wow, really? Why is that?" Percy asked.
"Well, it's a bit complicated, but I'll try to explain. You see, the Earth takes about 365 and a quarter days to go around the sun. But our calendar only has 365 days in a year. So every four years, we add an extra day to make up for the difference. Otherwise, our seasons would get out of sync with the calendar," Otis said.
"I see. That's very interesting. So, what do people do on Leap Day?" Percy asked.
"Anything they want. It's an extra day to enjoy life. Some people celebrate it with parties, some people do something new or adventurous, some people just relax and have fun. It's up to you," Otis said.
"Wow, that sounds amazing. I think I'll go and have a fun adventure around town. Thank you, Otis. You're very smart and helpful," Percy said.
"You're welcome, Percy. Have a good time. And don't forget to wear your hat. It suits you very well," Otis said.
Percy thanked Otis again and left. He was excited to explore the town and see what Leap Day had to offer. He had a feeling that it was going to be a wonderful day.
Percy set off to have his adventure. He saw many familiar places and faces, but he also discovered some new things. He saw a flock of flamingos dancing ballet on the ice. He joined them and learned some graceful moves.
He saw a narwhal playing chess with a seal. He watched and learned some clever strategies.
He saw a walrus painting a portrait of a penguin. He posed and got his own picture.Percy had a great time learning new skills and making new friends. He was so happy that he wanted to share his happiness with everyone. He went around the town and wished everyone a Happy Leap Day. He told them that it was a special day that only came every four years. He said that they should celebrate and have fun.
Most of the animals were surprised by Percy's words. They did not know what Leap Day was or why it was special. They thought that Percy was just being friendly or playful. They thanked him or smiled at him. Some of them even complimented his fedora.
Percy was glad. He hoped that they would appreciate the extra day. He kept on wishing everyone a Happy Leap Day and having fun.
At the end of the day, Percy returned to his home. He told his mother about his adventure and how he wished everyone a Happy Leap Day. His mother was proud of him for being so kind and cheerful. She said that he had made the most of his extra day.
Percy felt happy and satisfied. He thanked his mother and went to bed. He took off his fedora and put it on his pillow. He closed his eyes and dreamed of his next adventure. He wondered what the next Leap Day would bring four years from now.
