Percy the Penguin Turns Green for Saint Patrick's Day #34

Percy the Penguin loved his fedora. It was black and sleek, and it made him feel classy and cool. He wore it everywhere he went, even when he was swimming in the icy waters of Antarctica. He didn't care what the other penguins thought of him. He was proud of his unique style.  One day, Percy decided to go on an adventure. He had heard of a place called Ireland, where people celebrated a special day called Saint Patrick's Day. He wanted to see what it was all about. He packed his fedora and a few fish in his suitcase, and hitched a ride on a passing ship.

After a long journey, Percy arrived in Dublin, the capital of Ireland. He was amazed by the sights and sounds of the city. He saw people wearing green clothes, hats, and accessories. He saw flags and banners with shamrocks, a three-leafed plant that was a symbol of Ireland. He heard music and laughter coming from pubs and bars.

Percy was curious and thirsty. He decided to go into one of the pubs and try a drink. He walked in and saw a sign that said "Shamrock Shakes". He thought they sounded delicious and refreshing. He ordered one from the bartender, who looked at him with surprise and amusement.

"Are you sure you want one of these, mate?" the bartender asked. "They're quite strong, you know."

Percy nodded confidently. He was a penguin, after all. He could handle anything.

The bartender shrugged and poured him a large glass of green liquid. Percy took a sip and felt a tingling sensation in his mouth. He liked it. He drank some more and felt a warmth in his belly. He liked that too. He drank the whole glass and felt a buzz in his head. He loved it.

He ordered another one. And another one. And another one. He lost count of how many he had. He felt happy and dizzy. He didn't notice that his feathers were turning green.

He decided to go outside and explore the city some more. He put on his fedora and walked out of the pub. He saw a crowd of people marching down the street. They were playing music and waving flags. They were part of the Saint Patrick's Day parade.

Percy thought they looked fun and festive. He wanted to join them. He followed them and tried to blend in. He didn't realize that he stood out like a sore thumb. He was a green penguin wearing a black fedora in a sea of humans wearing green hats.

The people in the parade noticed him and started to laugh and cheer. They thought he was a mascot or a prankster. They welcomed him and gave him high-fives and hugs. Percy enjoyed the attention and the camaraderie. He felt like he belonged.

He marched with them until they reached the end of the route. He saw a big stage where a band was playing Irish music. He saw a lot of people dancing and having fun. He saw a table with food and drinks. He was hungry and thirsty. He decided to go and help himself.

He walked over to the table and saw a pile of green hats. He thought they looked better than his black fedora. He took one and put it on his head. He threw his old fedora in the trash. He didn't need it anymore. He was a green penguin now.

He grabbed a plate and filled it with food. He saw shamrock green sandwiches, cakes, cookies, candies. Along with fish and chips. He ate them all and felt full and happy. He grabbed a cup and filled it with drink. He saw beer, cider, whiskey, and soda. He drank them all and felt tipsy and merry.

He decided to go and dance with the crowd. He walked over to the dance floor and started to move his feet and flap his wings. He didn't care how he looked. He felt free and alive. He danced with anyone and everyone. He made friends and enemies. He kissed and fought. He laughed and cried.

He had the time of his life.

He didn't know how long he danced. He didn't know when the party ended. He didn't know where he was. He only knew that he was tired and sleepy. He decided to find a place to rest. He saw a park nearby. He thought it looked cozy and peaceful. He walked over to it and found a bench. He lay down on it and closed his eyes.

He fell asleep and dreamed of shamrocks and fedoras.

The End...?
