Mini Golfing with ED the Emu

One day, Percy the Penguin received a letter from his old friend ED the Emu, who lived in Australia. ED invited Percy to visit him and play some mini golf at his favorite course. Percy was thrilled, as he had always wanted to see Australia and try mini golf. He packed his suitcase, put on his fedora, and boarded the next flight to Sydney.

When Percy arrived, he was greeted by ED, who was waiting for him at the airport. ED was a tall and fluffy bird, with long legs and a long neck. He wore a pair of sunglasses and a Hawaiian shirt. He hugged Percy and welcomed him to Australia.

"Wow, you look great, ED!" Percy exclaimed. "I love your sunglasses and shirt. They suit you well."

"Thanks, Percy. You look great too. I love your fedora. It's very classy." ED complimented.

"Thanks, ED. I'm glad you like it. It's my favorite accessory." Percy said.

"Come on, let's go to the mini golf course. It's not far from here." ED suggested.

"OK, let's go. I can't wait to play mini golf with you." Percy agreed.

They got into ED's car and drove to the mini golf course. Along the way, they chatted about their lives and caught up on old times. They had met at a bird convention a few years ago, and had become good friends. They shared a lot of interests, such as music, movies, and sports.

They arrived at the mini golf course, which was called "Birdie's Paradise". It was a colorful and fun place, with 18 holes of different themes and challenges. There were holes with waterfalls, windmills, volcanoes, bridges, tunnels, and more. There were also statues and paintings of various birds, such as flamingos, toucans, parrots, and owls.

"Wow, this place looks amazing, ED!" Percy exclaimed. "I've never seen anything like it."

"It is amazing, Percy. It's my favorite place to hang out. I come here every week. I know every hole by heart." ED boasted.

"Really? You must be very good at mini golf, then." Percy said.

"I am, Percy. I am the mini golf champion of this course. I have the lowest score and the most hole-in-ones. No one can beat me." ED bragged.

"Wow, ED. You're very impressive. I'm sure you'll beat me easily. I've never played mini golf before. I don't even know the rules." Percy admitted.

"Don't worry, Percy. I'll teach you the basics. It's very simple. You just have to hit the ball with the club and get it into the hole in as few strokes as possible. The lower your score, the better. And if you get the ball into the hole in one stroke, that's called a hole-in-one, and that's the best." ED explained.

"I see. That sounds easy enough. But I'm sure it's harder than it looks." Percy said.

"It is, Percy. It is. But it's also very fun. Come on, let's get our clubs and balls and start playing." ED said.

They went to the counter and rented their clubs and balls. ED chose a green club and a green ball, while Percy chose a blue club and a blue ball. They also got a scorecard and a pencil to keep track of their scores.

They started with the first hole, which was called "The Flamingo". It was a pink hole with a large flamingo statue in the middle. The hole was behind the flamingo's legs, and the ball had to go through them.

"OK, Percy. This is the first hole. It's pretty easy. You just have to hit the ball through the flamingo's legs and into the hole. Watch me do it." ED said.

He placed his ball on the tee and swung his club. He hit the ball with a perfect aim and power, and it went through the flamingo's legs and into the hole.

"Hole-in-one!" ED shouted. "See, Percy? That's how you do it."

He wrote "1" on his scorecard and smiled proudly.

"Wow, ED. That was amazing. You're very good at this." Percy said.

"Thanks, Percy. Now it's your turn. Try to do the same." ED said.

Percy placed his ball on the tee and swung his club. He hit the ball with too much force, and it flew over the flamingo's head and landed in the bushes.

"Oops." Percy said.

"That's OK, Percy. It happens to everyone. Just go get your ball and try again." ED said.

Percy went to the bushes and retrieved his ball. He placed it on the ground and swung his club again. He hit the ball with too little force, and it rolled back to him.

"Oops." Percy said again.

"That's OK, Percy. Just try again. You can do it." ED said.

Percy swung his club for the third time. He hit the ball with a decent aim and power, and it went through the flamingo's legs. But it missed the hole by an inch and stopped on the edge.

"Almost, Percy. Almost. Just tap it in gently." ED said.

Percy tapped his ball lightly with his club, and it rolled into the hole.

"Yay, Percy. You did it. You got the ball into the hole." ED cheered.

"Thanks, ED. But it took me four strokes. That's not very good, is it?" Percy asked.

"Well, Percy. It's not the best, but it's not the worst either. It's OK for a beginner. You'll get better as you play more. Don't worry about it. Just have fun." ED said.

He wrote "4" on Percy's scorecard and gave him a pat on the back.

"Come on, Percy. Let's go to the next hole. It's called "The Windmill". It's a bit harder, but I'm sure you'll like it." ED said.

They moved on to the next hole, which was a yellow hole with a large windmill in the middle. The hole was behind the windmill, and the ball had to go through the spinning blades.

"OK, Percy. This is the second hole. It's a bit harder than the first one. You have to hit the ball through the windmill and into the hole. But you have to time it right, because the blades are spinning. Watch me do it." ED said.

He placed his ball on the tee and swung his club. He hit the ball with a perfect timing and power, and it went through the windmill and into the hole.

"Hole-in-one!" ED shouted again. "See, Percy? That's how you do it."

He wrote "1" on his scorecard and smiled proudly again.

"Wow, ED. That was amazing. You're very good at this." Percy said.

"Thanks, Percy. Now it's your turn. Try to do the same." ED said.

Percy placed his ball on the tee and swung his club. He hit the ball with a bad timing and power, and it hit the windmill blade and bounced back to him.

"Oops." Percy said.

"That's OK, Percy. It happens to everyone. Just go get your ball and try again." ED said.

Percy went to get his ball and placed it on the ground. He swung his club again. He hit the ball with a better timing and power, and it went through the windmill. But it missed the hole by a foot and stopped on the grass.

"Almost, Percy. Almost. Just tap it in gently." ED said.

Percy tapped his ball lightly with his club, and it rolled into the hole.

"Yay, Percy. You did it. You got the ball into the hole." ED cheered.

"Thanks, ED. But it took me two strokes. That's not very good, is it?" Percy asked.

"Well, Percy. It's not the best, but it's not the worst either. It's OK for a beginner. You'll get better as you play more. Don't worry about it. Just have fun." ED said.

He wrote "2" on Percy's scorecard and gave him a high-five.

"Come on, Percy. Let's go to the next hole. It's called "The Volcano". It's a bit harder, but I'm sure you'll like it." ED said.

They moved on to the next hole, which was a red hole with a large volcano in the middle. The hole was on top of the volcano, and the ball had to go up the slope and into the crater.

"OK, Percy. This is the third hole. It's a bit harder than the second one. You have to hit the ball up the volcano and into the hole. But you have to hit it hard enough, because the slope is steep. Watch me do it." ED said.

He placed his ball on the tee and swung his club. He hit the ball with a perfect power and angle, and it went up the volcano and into the hole.

"Hole-in-one!" ED shouted for the third time. "See, Percy? That's how you do it."

He wrote "1" on his scorecard and smiled proudly for the third time...
